The inspiration
My penguins come from a personal memory. My first love was nicknamed ‘Penguin’ because he walked without swinging his arms. With him, I felt unconditionally accepted and cherished.
Life brought its share of difficulties afterwards. But having once been valued so wholeheartedly helped me hold on to my tenderness, rather than becoming angry and cynical.
Each little penguin carries a little of that kindness forward.
Tiger Suit Penguin’s story
This penguin has slipped into an orange tiger suit and is feeling remarkably brave. The little beak gives the disguise away, but nobody has mentioned it. Confidence deserves a warm welcome.
